Klara's Edits to Alice's Triptychs

Concept

Does a concept exist?
Yes
What is its goal?
To highlight the words of wisdom of famous writers
Is the goal being met by the design?
Yes, although you could edit the images a bit to make them look more cohesive (i.e. brightness and levels in photoshop)
Is the concept worthwhile? Will the viewer care?
Yes, although you could consider making each triptych the same author

Communication

Is it clear what I’m viewing?
yes
Will I understand what you’re trying to convey?
yes
Is it clear what I can do here, if anything?

Structure

What are the design’s visual priorities?
Scale, contrast, color
Are design elements working in contrast, complement, or conflict?
I think the quote and the person’s name should be different sizes. Also, some of the overlapping text and image should maybe be more considered. Try not centering the text over the image in the third triptych.
What elements do you consider foreground? Background?
Foreground: text
Background: image
How will the design accommodate variability in browser width?
Yes, I think the “white space” in the background of these images accommodates text placement

Aesthetic

Is the design beautiful/striking/remarkable?
Not super “remarkable,” but I think image edits and text placement could help this
Does the design aesthetic relate to the concept? The song?
Yes, the serif typeface works well with the theme
Is the aesthetic consistent?
Yes, but alter images to make them more cohesive
Is the aesthetic driving the concept, or vice-versa?
Vis-versa

Execution

Are type size/color/face/treatment choices helping or hurting?
White type works well, but play with point size—make a contrast between the quote and name
Are images presented with sufficient resolution, and without unintentional distortion or compression artifacts?
A bit low res
Will elements such as fonts transfer as intended to the browser environment?
Not sure—look into making sure this is a web font
Can you build it?
Yes! (:
